Data Totaling Capability
In
IGRS, you can select a subset of records in any of the four database modules
and obtain the Sum, Average, Highest, and Lowest values for each data field
in that subset. For example:
Figure 1
| In Figure 1 above, we have selected
a subset of records corresponding to all Highway/Rail Grade Crossing accidents
that occurred between 1/1/97 and 12/31/97 involving CSX Transportation
at crossings with Flashing Lights only (no gates) with train speeds above
50 MPH. Six accident records match this combination of criteria.
Now, click the "View Stats" button in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. This brings up the "Stats" screen, as shown in Figure 2 below. |
Figure 2
| The "Statistics Screen", shown in Figure
2 above, displays stats for every data field that is capable of being summed
or averaged. Fields like "Weather", "Type of Train", etc. are not
included because sums or averages of the contents of those fields are not
meaningful.
The "Statistics Screen" displays a large amount of useful information. For instance, it tells us that the six accidents selected in Figure 1 produced a combined damage total of US$9,100.00, and average of US$1,516.67 per accident, with the highest loss for any single accident of US$3,000.00 and a low of US$0.00. Click the "Print" button at the lower right-hand corner of the screen to print an instant report. |
